December 6, 2017 Wednesday Letter

Dear Parents,

‘Tis the season of joy and giving! It’s also the busiest time of year for families. At De LaSalle, we have some traditions that the students truly enjoy and we hope for your support to make it all happen. Whatever help you can offer would be very much appreciated. All of our holiday happenings are described below. Let the fun begin!!

Congratulations to the Parent Community Association and everyone involved with the Family FunFest in November! You earned over $8,000 toward the PCA’s fundraising goal! Bravo! The first goal was to raise money for improving signage and general accessibility and welcoming for parents and guests to our campus. Research is underway for pricing the project. Thanks a million.

Have a wonderful week!

Lori Riti

NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

DE LASALLE HOLIDAY PLAY!   IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE: A Radio Play

We are so proud of the Performing Arts Club students and adult leaders who have worked so hard on this year’s holiday production! We hope all our school families will come to see the show on December 14 at 6:30 PM. Admission is $1.00  for children and $2.00 for adults. (Performers are free, of course.) Students in Mrs. Clinghan’s, Mrs. Stolz, Ms. Ahlfeldt’s and Mrs. Pistorio’s classes are participating in the pre- and post-show. Students in these classes should wear their uniform bottoms and a solid-color collared shirt.  A dessert and punch reception will follow the performance.

DESSERTS FOR HOLIDAY RECEPTION

If you are able to donate a baked goodie to share on December 14 at our holiday performance, we would be very grateful. Items may be brought to school that day or in the evening before the performance.

DE LA SALLE HELPS NEEDY FAMILIES DURING THE HOLIDAYS – Donations due December 8

Student Government is now collecting donations for new stuffed animals, individually wrapped snack size chips, and new unwrapped gifts for children ages 10-15.  Donations will be sent to the Nations Association Annual Christmas party which serves over 1,000 children and families in our community.  If you are interested in volunteering with the distribution of gifts on Saturday, December 16 from 12:30-3:30, please contact Danielle McManus at 239-980-4120 or at DJMFLA@aol.com. The gathering will take place at the Araba Shrine Temple, 2010 Hanson St. in Fort Myers.

GINGERBREAD HOUSES ARE COMING!

Each year in December, De LaSalle students gather together in the gym to enjoy some holiday fun. Their gingerbread house creations are something to behold! To make this happen on December 20 this year, we would be grateful for your donation of “building supplies” (candy 😊).  If you can donate supplies or volunteer to help, please return the enclosed form by tomorrow, December 7. After the forms are received, we may make some adjustments. Your form will be returned to you after December 13. Donations may be sent in after December 13. Volunteers must have background clearance.

SNOW DAY!

Another holiday tradition at De LaSalle is our Annual Snow Day and reading of The Polar Express. This year, Snow Day takes place on December 19. On this day, students have the option to wear modest pajamas to school. They may also bring slippers to wear inside. (Shoes are still required for outside.) Pajamas must be loose fitting, have sleeves, and full- length pants. Students will enjoy a day of holiday crafts, compliments of our wonderful staff!
