January 10, 2018 Wednesday Letter

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! It’s good to be back at school and re-establishing familiar routines. This week marks the beginning of the 3rd quarter marking period. Typically, student achievement shows the most growth during this part of the school year and we want to make the most of your child’s time with us. Your support is critical because we know when parents and educators join forces, anything is possible!

Looking forward to a great second half of the school year,

Lori Riti

This quarter we begin a new routine for report cards. De LaSalle is joining thousands of other schools throughout Florida and the nation that are turning to electronic document sharing. We will no longer be printing the two-sided, two-page report card to send home. This will be a savings to the school in printing costs and labor, plus we are saving natural resources! Beginning this quarter, you will have access to your child’s report card through Edsby, the same program you use to check on your child’s daily academic progress, homework assignments, class information, and school-wide calendar events. A step-by-step guide, complete with screen shots, will be sent home in the Wednesday Envelope next week. Report cards will be available for viewing as of Wednesday, January 17. You will want to review the report card before your child’s parent-teacher conference. Teachers will have the report card available on their laptop during the conference. If you haven’t accessed your Edsby account yet, please contact Assistant Principal Sarah Barrow this week at sbarrow@delasallefm.org or 239-245-8212.

A second copy of your conference appointment time is enclosed. Please remember that conferences are highly valued, and therefore mandatory at De LaSalle. If there is a problem with your scheduled time, please contact Stacie Kolnicki in the front office, 239-245-8212 or skolnicki@delasallefm.org

This beloved annual event takes place this year on January 26. Leashed pets may be brought to school at 1:45. Other pets in crates or cages may spend the day in the classroom. Students who can’t bring their pet may wish to bring a picture! The student government is also collecting pet food, pet treats, and supplies in exchange for a NUT Day pass on the day of the event. Please see the enclosed flyer for more information.

PDQ gift cards are on sale in the school office. Cards are valued at $10.00 and sell for $7.00.
