January 14, 2015 Wednesday Letter

Dear Parents,

The 2nd Quarter of the 2014-15 school year ends this week on January 15, marking the halfway point of the school year. We look forward to sharing your child’s progress via report cards, which will be sent home on Wednesday, January 21 and conferences, which take place on January 22-23. At De LaSalle, we deeply value parent input and participation and thank you for making your child’s education such a priority.

As we approach registration season, it is good to keep in mind that parents seeking tuition assistance will need to have verification of income for 2014 in time to apply for this aid. Valid verification includes the W-2 forms for 2014 and the IRS 1040 form for 2014 (or 2013). Applications for assistance will not be reviewed until these documents are submitted to F.A.C.T.S. for verification. The registration deadline for returning students is February 18. The registration fee is $250, due on February 18. Open registration for new students for 2015-16 begins on February 19. Openings available at that time are offered to new applicants.

You may notice that your child’s student planner has notes from the teachers tracking the frequency of “recovery.” Recovery is a process we use when a student is having a hard time being a part of the group and needs down time to pull it together. This is a part of our Love & Logic philosophy, which helps students self-regulate. We use this procedure so teachers can teach and students can learn and it is not disciplinary in nature. We recently made a decision as a staff to note the occurrence of recovery in the planner as a way of maintaining communication between teachers who work with the same students. To learn more about recovery, please refer to the enclosed handout.

Thank you for all you do to support your child’s goals and dreams, and for inviting De LaSalle to be a part of the journey.

Mrs. Riti

There is no school this Friday, January 16 as teachers have a duty day to prepare for report cards and conferences. There is no school this Monday, January 19 for the national holiday, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

School will dismiss early on Thursday, January 22 and there is no school on Friday, January 23 for parent teacher conferences. Enclosed with this letter today is your assigned conference appointment time. Thank you for signing and returning the bottom of the form to school tomorrow. We are always enthusiastic to meet with parents to nurture your child’s ongoing success. Please arrive on time for your conference as meetings are scheduled back-to-back. If you have an emergency and are unable to attend, please contact Mrs. Riti at lriti@delasallefm.org to reschedule, as conferences are a required part of the school program.

LEGACY BRICKSOur first order deadline has been extended to January 31!

De LaSalle Academy Legacy Bricks are a great way to honor people who have made a difference in our lives.  The cost of a brick is only $125.  This is a wonderful way to honor family and friends, commemorate special occasions, or remember loved ones while helping your child’s school with a great fundraiser.  Our goal is to place 300 Legacy bricks on campus by February. Although orders will be taken on an on-going basis, please return your Legacy Brick order form no later than January 31 to be included in the first group.
