Clarifying Corner 📝

Over the past few weeks, we’ve received a variety of questions from families about several different topics. To make sure everyone has the same information and feels confident moving forward, we put together this Clarifying Corner. Our goal is simple: clear communication, consistent expectations, and a place where you can easily find the answers you need. Thank you for taking the time to read through these clarifications so we can all stay on the same page!

The Lunch Lowdown: Understanding Required Components 🍽️

NSLP logo
We understand the frustration many students and parents feel when certain food items must be taken but sometimes go uneaten. Unfortunately, these requirements are part of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP), and in order to continue offering free and reduced lunches, we are required to follow their guidelines.

To meet NSLP standards, students must select all required components when ordering a school lunch. Even if a student chooses not to eat or drink a particular item, it must still be part of their meal.
Each lunch must include:
  • One entrée (main course)
  • One fruit
  • One vegetable
  • One grain or bread item
  • One milk choice (fat-free or 1%)

Why this matters:
These guidelines ensure every student receives a balanced, nutritious meal that meets federal standards. Thank you for understanding and helping us remain compliant so we can continue providing this important program to all families.

Uniform Expectations 👕

All uniform wear

Daily Uniform Reminder

We want to take a moment to clarify our school uniform expectations so all students can come to school prepared and we can continue offering fun dress-down opportunities throughout the year.
Our daily uniform options include:
  • School polo with khaki shorts/pants
  • Closed-toed running shoes
  • Gym shirt (on designated gym days only)
  • Art shirt (on designated art days only)
We love giving students special dress-down days, but in order to continue those privileges, students must follow the standard uniform code every regular school day.
On a postivie note I have4nt seen any mosquitos meme

Now That it is "Chilly"

As the weather gets cooler, please remember:
  • Students must wear an approved school uniform jacket or long-sleeve shirt, which can be purchased at All Uniform Wear.
  • We do not have any extras available in the office, so purchasing one is required.
  • Students may wear a personal jacket when arriving at school, but it must be removed once they enter the classroom.
  • Hoodies are not permitted at any time.

Thank you for helping us keep our uniform expectations consistent and ensuring our students are dressed for success every day!

Turkey Trot — Parent Information 🦃🏃‍♂️

Parents are invited to join us next Friday, November 21st from 9:00–11:00 AM for our annual Turkey Trot! We will begin welcoming families at 8:50 AM so you can get settled and set up your spots. A designated parent section will be clearly marked for you to sit, watch, and cheer on our runners.

Things to Know:
  • We encourage families to bring chairs for comfortable seating and extra water for runners.
  • Parents may not sit with their child’s homeroom. This helps us promote teamwork, school spirit, and whole-school encouragement.
  • Students may dress in running gear instead of uniforms for the day.
  • Running shoes are REQUIRED for all students.
If you plan to take your child home after the event, a sign-out station will be available at the gate.
Students who stay at school will enjoy a movie afternoon in the gym following the event.

We look forward to a fun and spirited day with our Dragon families!
